Module 1 Chapter 3 continued: Using a heated glue gun

Enjoyed trying out different techniques for Texture and relief.
However I still wanted to use the Heated glue gun.
I'd attended an Embroiderers' Guild Members' Day in North Wales where Valerie introduced us to this technique.
There were super ideas, using pearl nail varnish to decorate the items, attaching the glue to sweet papers and fabrics, as well as varying the designs and adding other bits.

Here are some of my attempts a few weeks later, having bought a glue gun, glue sticks and baking sheets.

I digested the health and safety precautions on the packaging and checked Utube on the internet to help in using the glue gun.

So with metal tray, baking sheets, aluminium foil and glue gun, here I am having a go, and some of the results.  I used 2 glue sticks and the hotter setting recommended.

The different shapes were based on earlier sketches related to cotton.

Definitely need to use baking sheets if wish to peel away the shapes.
Those on the aluminium foil stuck to it - but no problem, quite like the foil effect, having removed the surrounding foil and in some cases the occasional spaces to leave gaps.

In the last picture, bottom left - this was made by putting water in a used, clean baked bean can and just letting the glue cascade in.  Lovely lacey effect and the size was contained, can see it making interesting brooches.

Each sample has now joined the different Zig zag books, related to the cotton item it represented.

Good fun, and certainly a technique I'd use again.
